The Significance of the Cross are numerous ,the Cross signify to some spiritual facts , ( 13*S.Cave.,"The Doctrine of The Work of Christ ) as the Humbling of Christ , and His great Love and redemption ,He put himself in the shape of man ( Philippians 2 : 7,8 ) , and humble himself ,this Character was accompanied by subjecting him to his human nature, without changing to his theological glory, although he put his body unto death, the death of the Cross.
That work was because he was on behave of all the mankind, to redeem who were under the law , his whole life was an expression of his free obedience which was clear on the Cross,he came to make his Father's will, as He said in Hebrews 5:8 " though he were a son yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered " . So , he was in the shape of God's servant of Isaiah 52,53 and he taught his people that He came down from the heaven, as he said"not to do mine own will , but the will of him that sent me " John 6:38 .
He prayed " if it is possible , let this cup pass from me : nevertheless not as I will, but as thou will " Mathew 26 : 39 - 42 ) , thus he gave us an example to follow his steps , to pray " thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven " and that we must obey God more than the people , and also that if the world persecuted us we must be glade because it is a clue that we are walking after those who were before us , the top of them is Jesus Christ himself who carry on his message ( I Peter 2:21 - 24 ) .
The cross signify The sacrificial love That we must practice the same kind of love ( Ephesians 5:25) , as he bestowed according to his love ( John 3:16 ) , so we must love the brothers ( I John 3: 16 ) .
The Cross signified that The redemption which He has done were to justify us that instead of our punishment , the Christ bear it on the Cross , He bears God's angry due to our sins, and He became a sin ( it means :- treated as a sinful ), in II Corinthians 5:21 , So," he was numbered with the transgressors " Isaiah 53:12 ., To fulfill the post purpose of God for redemption .
At Psalms 22,16,40 ,( N. Dimmock., "14* The Doctrine of The Death of Christ ' remark in the foot note " He talked about the agonies of Christ who testify all the agonies to punish the sin in his body which explained the invisibility of the face of His Father while He was bearing all the punishment that were in fact our share due to our sin , The sin of all the mankind , so , He said "Why you left me " ,
He experienced the agony by the pains of the cross , The Cross of death as any man who practice the agony of the crucifixion ,but in his case it was to redeem all who trust and have faith in his redemption , Thus The Cross signify the unusual work of Christ who bestowed and give his body as a sacrifice to redeem the faithful .
Remark:--He spoke about the Psalm 22 to explain the events of the crucifixion , He was great in describing the results of the death of Christ ,but we do not accept his idea that he bore the agony because of his theological nature ,his idea about that theological agony we refuse it because he was during his agony as a man on behave of all the mankind ,so it is important to note that .
