The crossiology is the science that studies the cross , its substance , and its meaning and historical date among the different nations,its implications and uses in the applied life of the individuals , it depends upon many sciences like Theology , Worship , History ,Arts ,Literature ,and studies the subjects that gives the man more information about the Cross as it is God's tool in His plane of salvation before the falling of the man in the sin.

It studies the Cross in the minds of the people , faithful or unfaithful from the beginning of the human existence weather this thought belongs to believers or none believers , and to study the evolution of the human thoughts about the Cross by explaining or rebutting the views of the wrong human thought.

The word Cross according to the dictionary " refer to " Hastings 1 Dictionary of the Bible Vol II , 1898 - 1904 "" in the English use , it used to mean the meeting of the vertical line with an horizontal line, looks like the word " Crossroads which means the place where the streets meet together , the verb Cross means some one who directing himself as if he is an horizontal line to go to the other side of the street as if it is the vertical other point it reflects the meani9ng of the shape of crossing from one point to another .
But in the Arabic translation the word Cross " SALEEB" does not use to mean crossing the roads or the crossroads because the Islamic thinking hates the Cross and use another words like "YABOR" and MOFTARAK ELTAREEK" to indicate the words "Cross as a verb " and "crossroads as a place" , so, "SALEEB" means just a wooden tool the verb is " YSLEB" means hanging on that wooden tool for punishing according to the Islamic laws , it is a religious tool of punishment' to leave a person lonely hanged on a wooden cross or cutting his hands or legs before doing that and leave him to face the death , it's a dramatic shameful death.
The Christian Arabic people only who use this word to mean the glorified historical Cross of Jesus Christ ,they make and use some artificial forms of the cross to glorify it , in the Greek language the word " Cross" is " STAUROS" it has two meanings The first one of them means an upright stack of beam or mass of wood or wooden rib , while the second meaning means A tool for killing or punishment , The New Testament uses the word "Cross" as a name 28 times , but as a derived verb or adjectives ... etc., it occurs 46 times .
In the Old Testament The Cross was not used as a tool for killing persons , but it was to hanging the persons on it , to curse them after their death , for example in Esther 7 . 8 Haman was killed , then in 7.10 after two verses they hanged him on the wooden rib to be cursed . The Hebrew word which the Septuagint translation preferred to use the Greek word "STAUROS" instead of it is the Hebrew word "TALAH" ( 2 Ardedt - Gingrich , Greek English Lexicon of the New Testament " 1957, ) TALAH in the Hebrew language means Hanging , The Hanging with a shameful curse ( Deuteronomy 21 . 22 , 23 Joshua 10 . 26 )
Or as accursed sign ( Galatians 3. 13 ) but the habit of the Jews were to bury the dead before the night ( John 19.31 ).
The new testament used the word Cross 2 to mean " The wood which sign to the humbleness and the agony " ( Acts 5. 30 , 10.39 , 13. 29, II Peter 2 . 24 ) .
